Visually Challenged Staff Added to 1999 Call Center
Mayor Hau Lung-bin welcomed 12 visually-impaired individuals on August 9 who will join the ranks of the city’s 1999 Citizen Hotline crew. Hau noted the employment of the 12 members complies with People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act.
According to Hau, the new squad comprising these disabled individuals will provide consulting services on issues regarding labor rights. Residents who need assistance in this respect can dial 1999 (or 02-2720-8889) on extension 2.The mayor pointed out the 12 visually-challenged crew members have received four months of solid training, plus one month of on-the-job training during the new service’ trial run at the call center. He expressed his satisfaction over their outstanding performance and hoped to eliminate public doubt over their ability.Hau took the opportunity to thank all those involved in developing auxiliary aids and helping build a barrier-free environment for the visually impaired. He also set out his vision to create more job opportunities for people with disabilities, allowing them to exert their potential and get adapted to the society.
