Refurbished Basketball Stadium Tested by Mayor, Players

During an inspection visit to the basketball stadium of Taipei Physical Education College (TPEC) on July 26, Mayor Hau Lung-bin took the opportunity to challenge members of the Dacin Tigers to a 3-on-3 match at the renovated facility.

Leading the “Taipei Tree Frog” basketball team, the mayor took on the Tigers with team members Cultural Affairs Commissioner Liu Wei-gong, City Councilors Chung Hsiao-ping, Lee Fu Chung-wu, and Chen Yen-bo.

The mayor pointed out that the facility at TPEC is the only international standard venue for basketball tournaments in Taiwan. The stadium, which holds up to 6,000 spectators and the home stadium of the Dacin Tigers, utilizes quality construction material to ensure the best environment for athletes.

Furthermore, the venue will also host the preliminary basketball matches for the upcoming 2017 Universiade in Taipei.

Noting that the William Jones Cup will be taking place at the TPEC basketball stadium in August, he urges the public to come watch the games and cheer for the local team.
