New Public Works Commissioner Takes Office

Mayor Hau Lung-bin presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new commissioner for the city’s Public Works Department (PWD) on June 19.

During his address, the mayor remarked that former commissioner Lee resigned to take responsibility for the flooding on June 12.

Chang Pei-yi, the new commissioner of PWD, acquired his degree from Thailand’s Asian Institute of Technology and has been working with RSEA Engineering Corporation until he joined the Department of Rapid Transit Systems in June of 1988.

Having served in several top positions spanning deputy director, director, and deputy commissioner, Chang is a longtime veteran in the government sector. The mayor hopes that Chang’s expertise will lead PWD in carrying out its responsibilities.

The mayor also emphasized the importance of learning the lessons from the previous flooding and exercise prudence and care in the management of pumping stations.
