Topping out Ceremony Held at Songshan Cultural & Creative Park

Mayor Hau Lung-bin witnessed the placement of the final girder for the main structure of Songshan Cultural & Creative Park on April 23. He was joined by Cultural Affairs Commissioner Liu Wei-gong, Fubon Financial Chairman Daniel Tsai, and Japanese architect Toyo Ito who spearheads the project.

During his address, Hau reiterated the city government’s resolve in breathing life into the tobacco-plant-turned-cultural facility. With the investment of resources from both public and private sectors, he believes that the Songshan Cultural & Creative Park will set an example for successful transformation of historical sites to serve public interest through urban renewal actions.

Outlining a grander vision, Hau remarked that the success of the project will lay the foundation for Taipei to develop its creative industry and strengthen its position to bid for the title of World Design Capital 2016.

The mayor also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the corporative partner behind the Sonhshan Cultural & Creative Park project which recruited the top-notch architectural experts led by Toyo Ito. He reckoned that the combination of a reliable private investor, right architects, and a sound management team holds key to the success of the BOT project.
